We at 6th Beeston Scout Group have challenged ourselves to raise enough funds to buy a ShelterBox and make a difference to the lives of one family in crisis. To make this challenge more difficult, we have allotted ourselves a finite period, beginning at our AGM in July and finishing with our Group Carol Service in December.
One ShelterBox cost £590 and gives a fresh start to a family following a disaster such as we have been witnessing recently in Syria and Mexico. Please see www.shelterbox.org for more information.
We have many activities planned, some one-off like our Quiz NIght, others ongoing, such as our Small Change – Big Difference Jar.
We would like to invite the people of Beeston to come along to our Headquarters (corner of Middle St/Styring St) on Saturday 12 October, 10.30 – 4 to find out more about the valuable work of ShelterBox, to see a ShelterBox in action and of course, to eat cake! This event is primarily about raising public awareness of ShelterBox, but we’re also keen to raise those funds, so refreshments will be available as well as a few side stalls.
