Patrol Leaders’ Training Camp

The PLs and APLs recently spent a weekend honing their skills at Sherbrooke camp site

The PLs and APLs had to complete a variety of different tasks from building a trebuchet to cooking a main meal of sausage casserole and steamed pudding from scratch all on one fire by themselves!

Saturday was practical work whilst Sunday was more theory and "classroom" based. learning about what motivates people, working as a team, what a leader is and how to have a vision of what they wish to achieve for their patrols and how to make it a reality.

The "classroom session" finished with the PL's and APL's having to teach everyone a non Scouting skill from making a paper water-bomb, martial arts moves and head scarves!

All in all a very productive weekend and enjoyable weekend.

High Ropes Camp

Here are some of the scouts’ reviews of our High Ropes Camp in Lincolnshire

I enjoyed camp because I liked the rings and the zip wire and cooking on fires but I especially enjoyed the trapeze.

I like scout camp because it helped conquer my fear of heights.

I enjoyed it because I made it our first international camp (with my German exchange friend).

I nearly finished the rings and I was the person who got farthest.

I liked camp because we got to cook our own food.

It was among the best of the scout camps I’ve been on. The heights were amazing and the zip wire was great.

It was thrilling and exciting and I am no longer afraid of heights!

The overhand loops were the best because it was a good climb and you never knew what was coming next.

Scout camp was really fun. We all enjoyed the high ropes and cooking our own food. The late night wide game was really fun apart from a few scratches it was really exciting playing in the dark. The sense of achievement and responsibility was huge.
